Leticia B. Puguon, Ph.D., a nursing lecturer of the School of Medical Sciences of Aldersgate College has once again added feather to her cap of achievements as she wins the 2011 Most Outstanding Community Health Nurse Award from the National League of Philippine Government Nurses, Inc.
A Public Health Nurse with 30 years experience working with the Provincial Health Office of Nueva Vizcaya, she is currently Governor of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) – Cagayan Valley Chapter.
She was given the award for her outstanding dedication and commitment to public service in the practice of her nursing profession. According to her, her most important accomplishment as nurse comes from bringing services to upland areas where the poorest of the poor villagers need health services most.
After earning her Nursing license in 1977, Leticia B. Puguon served as a community nurse at Barangay Imugan in the town of Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya through the Kalahan Educational Foundation(KEF). She also served at Barangay Ammueg in town of Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya as well as in numerous medical missions for indigenous tribes within the territory of the Bugkalot Tribes in New Gumiad, Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya.
Leticia B. Puguon, Ph.D is truly an inspiration to our Nursing students as she advocates passion for work and devotion to underserved peoples and communities.
