To cope with the demands of the curriculum, the principal and her teachers enhanced themselves with trainings, seminars and workshops to keep them abreast with the trends of the time and to heighten their competence in mentoring.
Dr. Divina Gracia Apolonio, principal attended the Fund for Assistance to Private School (FAPE) National Education Conference on Understanding by Design (UbD), Getting into the Core of 2010 Basic Education Curriculum at the Manila Hotel, Manila on February 4-6, 2010.
The seminar aimed at understanding the UbD as a curriculum framework-its origin, basic principles and models; equipping necessary skills in the preparation of instructional materials and the appropriate alternative assessment tools in the learning environment and enhancing competencies in using new and innovative approaches and strategies compatible with the UbD curriculum.
As an offshoot of this seminar, an In-Service Training was conducted with the same sponsoring agency at the University of La Sallete, Center for Professional Development, Santiago City on May 3-5, 2010 giving focus on the integration of the UbD in different subject areas such English, Science, Mathematics, Filipino and Araling Panlipunan. Mr. Nelson Agustin for English, Mr. Omar Capayan for Araling Panlipunan, Mrs. Norinyl Clemor for Science and Ms. Mary Rose Olaya for Math availed of this training.
To enhance their skills in preparing researches and investigatory project proposals, science and mathematics teachers Mrs. Cathelyn Mariano, Mrs. Norinyl Clemor, Mrs. Curie Palattao and Mrs. Felicidad Furigay and Ms. Mary Rose Olaya attended a writeshop sponsored by DepEd Division of Nueva Vizcaya at Nueva Vizcaya General Comprehensive High School (NVGCHS) Bayombong, Nueva Vizacaya on May 19-21, 2010.
On the other hand, Mr. Nelson Agustin attended the 2010 Regional Training on Project REACH (Reaching All Children) for the Private Secondary Schools at the Regional Learning Center, DepEd Office, Carig Sur, and Tuguegarao City on August 25-27, 2010.
The said seminar was designed to promote the integration of DropOut Reduction Program (DORP) and Reading Enhancement Activities Daily (READ) in the school’s Improvement Plan.#MJJT
