After 14 years of serving the institution, Mrs. Annabelle Claro- Leabres, an English teacher grabbed the Outstanding Teacher Award for the school year 2009- 2010 during the Commencement Exercises of the college at the AC quadrangle last March 30.
Leabres received a plaque of appreciation and P10,000 cash award from Dr. Willie A. Damasco, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Aldersgate College. The award is conceived by the Damasco family in honor of their parents the late Mr. Manuel Q. Damasco Sr. and Mrs. Elnora A. Damasco, who were great teachers in their time. “This gesture is a way of acknowledging teachers for their invaluable contribution to humanity.
The awardee together with other nominees were rated according to their students’ performance evaluation, their colleagues conducted by the Guidance Counselor and the high school principal. The results then were handed to the screening committee headed by Mrs. Luz Gasmin, the elementary school principal, who then subjected them for a panel interview. Upon careful analysis and deliberation, Leabres emerged outstanding.
Leabres, on the other hand, assured everyone that her experiences and motivation will serve as her guide and inspiration to squeeze more of what she has for the benefit of her students, the school and for the glory of God whom she believes is the source of everything.
Scholars, service grantees hailed
“You are like a diamond that shines even at night” addressed Hon. Atty. Ronelie U. Valtoribio to the students during the recognition day set to honor the scholars and service grantees of Aldersgate College on September 9, 2010 at the EZE rooftop of the school.
With the theme “SSGS: Making Headway through Excellence in Education and Service.”
Valtoribio, recounted her success story from her student days to her position now as the newly elected mayor of Villaverde. She emphasized the importance of perseverance, hardwork and direction toward a goal one is aiming at. She added that excellence is quality service to one’s organization or institution. With her life as a perfect example to emulate from, the students gained insights to bank on their way to fame.
“Recognition is the greatest motivator” said Mrs. Prescilla Esperanza A. Soriano, Senior Executive Assistant for Education(SExEA) in her opening remarks.
Aside from the recognition of scholars and service grantees, the program also aimed at installing to office new sets of officers.
Installed to their offices were officers of the Scholars and Service Grantees Society (SSGS), Boarding House Owners and Student Boarders Association (BHOSBA), Artists’ Circle, Varsity Players and CHED Scholars’ Society with the guest speaker as the inducting officer.
Meanwhile, top ten entrance scholars of the High School and College were also honored with the semestral academic scholars from the different college departments and service grantees comprised of the Supreme Pupil Council ( SPC) , Supreme Student Government ( SSG) and Supreme Student Council ( SSC) Presidents, the Paragon elementary, high school, and college editors and associate editors, college working students and librarians.
The scholars and service grantees were awarded certificates by Dr. Junifen F. Gauuan, together with the deans and principals of the Elementary, High School and College Departments.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Jenifer Raymond Tallungan, congratulated the scholars and service grantees in his closing remarks likewise, he thanked the Guest Speaker for gracing the occasion.
Scholars and service grantees of the institution will enjoy a full-tuition scholarship for the current school year.#zroel20.
