RATIONALE:
The School of Informatics recognizes its vital role of reaching out to the community to accomplish its goals and objectives through its Outreach Program dubbed “School of Informatics – Barangay Calaocan Kabuhayan, Kalusugan at Teknolohiya Para SaKaunlaran Outreach Program” (SI-BCKKTPK). Its faculty and students believe that the social services that are extended to the community will contribute to the attainment of Aldersgate College’s goals of Academic Excellence, Social Relevance and Spiritual Nurture.
To achieve its goals and objectives, the School of Informatics (SI) decided to adopt Barangay Calaocan in Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya in partnership with the Aldersgate Christian Child Center (ACCC). The SI has identified various problems which served as a basis to determine the components of the Outreach Program. The faculty and students of the college arrived at the conclusion that these problems can be solved through capability building, computer literacy, livelihood projects, entrepreneurship, health services and environmental concern.
Fifty five (55) families were identified and listed as beneficiaries of the program.
The SI faculty and students made plans and identified appropriate actions to take to be able to generate funds to support its implementation. Equipped with hopes and the belief that many people with generous hearts would be very willing to share their resources and support the less fortunate in the spirit of service, the department embarked on this program.
