With raging spirit and soaring enthusiasm, students, and employees of Aldersgate College gathered at the AC quadrangle to memorialize the opening of Intramurals 2012 with the theme” Defining who we were, Defining who we are and who we wish to be “, last September 24.
Despite the scorching heat of the sun, ACians unified in a parade around the town at 8:00 a.m. led by the Solano PNP Force followed by all athletic contingents, Midget, Junior, and Senior Division and the Elementary as well as the High School band.
The opening ceremonies focused on the raising of contingent banners by the captain ball and muse of each team, the oath of amateurism by all athletes, the ceremonial tossing of the ball, the relay and lighting of the torch of sportsmanship by the team managers, the Athletic Director, Mr. Emerson Castañeto and the AC president Dr. Junifen F. Gauuan.
The quadrangle soon resounded with the loud cheers of the throng when the cheer dance competition started with the four teams of the college participating; the SERPENTS of the of the School of Medical Sciences(SMS) and the College of Engineering and Technology (CET); the RAPTORS of the College of Arts, Sciences and Education (CASE) with the School of Criminology (SC); the TYCOONS of the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) and the PHOENIX of the School of Informatics and Hospitality Management (SIHM). The competition ended as the Raptors settled as champion gaining them a shrilling applause from the spectators.
The Arnis and Taekwondo Clubs of the elementary and high school astounded the crowd with their sizzling and awesome exhibition that showed their prowess in poomse and self defense. The participants in taekwondo who started their training last summer are currently enrolled in the school’s taekwondo program under the initiative of the elementary school principal Mr. Rommel Alejos. Though considered greenhorn in the field, most of them were medalist in the Luzon Taekwondo Championship held recently at Solano.
The unfailing weather favored the athletic competition that lasted for four days. It concluded with the Closing and Awarding Ceremony with the Raptors as the overall champion of the Senior Division, the Stallions of the Junior Division and the Tigers of the Midget Division. /Mjjt/

Bernabe Pedro M. Cunanan, a BSA 4 student, was elected as the President of the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA) – Region 02 Council for the Federation Year 2011-2012. Cunanan is an active student leader at AC having been elected to various positions in the local JPIA chapter as well as the class year organizations and the SBA Supreme Student Council. He is also an academic scholar for several semesters and a CHED scholar, enjoying financial support from AC and CHED.
NFJPIA is the national organization of accountancy students in the Philippines which was created under the auspices of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). It commits itself to the holistic development of its members, molders of tomorrow’s leaders and a training ground for future professionals. The Region 02 Council has, at present, 14 affiliated colleges and universities from Cagayan to Nueva Vizcaya with around 2,000 student-members.
A simple turnover ceremony was held at Aaron’s Resort in Santiago City last April 30, 2011. Diana C. Tang, the outgoing president, gave a very comprehensive report on the accomplishments of the previous federation year. Arthur C. Sonday III, the regional adviser, congratulated the outgoing officers for a job well done. He said that Federation Year 2010-2011 was the best year ever since he was appointed as adviser. He then challenged the incoming officers to perform to the best of their abilities in order to equal, if not surpass, what the previous officers have accomplished. Sonday also announced the appointment of Mrs. Cecilia B. Valdez, Dean of the School of Business and Accountancy, as his co-adviser this Federation Year 2011-2012. Valdez gladly accepted the appointment after which she delivered an inspiring message to both the incoming and outgoing officers. She gave a message by using the acronym NFJPIA. Continue reading
On July 9, 2011, the new set of officers of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) – Nueva Vizcaya Chapter were inducted into office by Ms. Cleofe L. Flores, Revenue District Officer of the Bureau of Internal Revenue Nueva Vizcaya who is at the same time, the Senior Director for PICPA Northern Luzon Region. The Induction Program was held at the Ammungan Hall, Provincial Capitol, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
Included in the roster of officers for fiscal year 2011-2012 are two professors from Aldersgate College, namely, Mrs. Cecilia B. To see the world move towards a pattern of sustainable development, the Aldersgate College Junior Philippines Institute of Accountants (ACJPIA) joined the tree planting sponsored by the JPIA Region 2 Council held at Masoc, Nueva Vizcaya last August 15.
The said activity enthemed, “Continuing the Green Advocacy,” aimed to hone JPIAn’s awareness on issues concerning the environment and to influence them to move in a direction where they can learn to address the abuses inflicted upon natural resources, on our ecosystem.
More than 100 accountancy students from Nueva Vizcaya gathered in the said advocacy.
The Dean of School and Business and Accountancy (SBA), MRS. Cecilia Valdez, CPA and ACJPIA’s adviser, Dr. Leopoldo Valdez also participated in the said event. #mica
