SDC Elects Officers English Week Celebration Set

In its intent at harmonizing its objectives with the school’s tri-star objectives of academic excellence, social relevance and spiritual nurture, the Speech and Drama Club under the auspices of the College of Arts, Sciences and Education, has adopted the theme: SDC Upholding Traditions, Treading New Horizons. Specifically it aims to develop the stage and theatrical skills of students as well as to enhance their public speaking expertise. All students taking up English and Literature subjects are automatic members of the club.

The Director of the SDC, Mr. Benjamin C. Dulatre, spearheaded the election of the new set of officers for the Academic Year 2011 – 2012 on July 15, 2011 at the High School Library. The new set of Officers are: President: Darson Harvey E. Natividad; Vice President: Dwight Soyan A. Dangilan; Secretaries: Nina Katherine C. Gambo (Recording) and Jennybelle Z. Boado (Board); Treasurer: April Joy C. Calub; Auditor: April Jane M. Alcantara; P.I.O: Jarom E. Fronda; Business Managers: Dolly Ortiz and Maricris L. Hilario; Marshalls: Patrick Leonard B. Dingal and Julius O. Trinidad; Muse: Maria Helen I. Fernandez; Escort: Rinbert Bahni; Representatives: Jovy Laiza Mae B. Covita and Albert Jhon D. Zamora (SMS), Janine T. Valdez and Maria Isabel R. Capuno(SBA), Dyanna Mariae A. Dangilan and Madel D. Villuan (CASE), Christian M. Capili and Pablo Chuy-awon (SOC), Jet Ballesteros and Rachel Aliac (SI), Lhei Ann Flores and Jefferson Baysa (CET), and Frenz Jeaneth V. Tarun and Geralyn S. Maninang (HRM).

Earlier, all the English Classes elected their classroom officers with the guidance of their respective advisers and all the elected class officers gathered together to elect their general SDC Officers.

The Director bared the program of activities of the club which include the restructuring of SDC Bulletin Boards and the English Week Celebration set on September 8 and 9. The proposed activities during the celebration are: Induction of the SDC Officers, Stage Arts Competition, Impromptu Speech, Extemporaneous Speech, Poem Recitation, Spelling Bee, Tourism Quiz Bee, Super Quiz Bee, Story Telling, Elocution, Poster Making, Essay Writing and Debate. For one week there will be a display of English writers’ famous quotation on posters. The SDC is set to stage a one-act play during the Second Semester. Relative to this, auditions are also set to start during the program.

The Advisers of the SDC are the English Instructors, Mrs. Rizalyn Esquivel, Mrs. Marissa Taguinod, Mrs. Debora Sampaga, Mr. Jonathan Palitayan, Mr. Aurelio Polonio and Mr. Alexis Dumelod. The Consultants are Mr. Jenifer Raymond Tallungan, Dean of Students Affairs and the CASE Dean and Senior Executive Assistant for Education, Mrs. Prescilla A. Soriano.
