Senior Engineering Students visit the ECC compliant Solano Municipal Sanitary Landfill

To reconcile theoretical concepts with the actual setting, the senior CE/EE students together with their Instructors visited the Solano Municpal Sanitary Landfill last October 15, 2010. The field visit and observation were part of the related learning experience of the students in their Sanitary Engineering and Electrical System Design subjects. With the permission of the Municipal Mayor Philip Dacayo, Mr. Arnel Domincel, the General Services Officer of LGU-Solano and the Officer In-charged of the sanitary landfill conducted a brief overview on its design, operations, and maintenance. Because of its good governance and consistent effective operations, it was already issued an Environmental Compliance Certificate by the DENR. Mr. Domincel also stressed that the landfill is the first in region 2 and is now considered as a prototype of many local government units in their quest for an effective and efficient solid waste management program.
