High School Alumni Homecoming held Next Homecoming slated, 2013

Marching on the same ground, and singing the familiar AC March, 214 alumni of Aldersgate College Science High School trooped back to their Alma Mater to reunite with former schoolmates and faculty and breathe the sweet air of nostalgia that only their school can exude. The High School Alumni Association Batch 1980 led by their president Mrs. Emely M. Baptista and Batch 1986 headed by their president Mr. Noli Domincel hosted the Alumni Homecoming last December 30 at the school grounds. Well-attended by alumni, administrators, faculty and employees alike, the get-together featured games, raffle draws and competitions among groups.  A Thanksgiving Service preceded the parade, program and banquet.

The reunion was graced by Hon. Board Member Epifanio Lambert D. Galima, Member of the AC-BOT and son of the founder of the institution who came to represent the congressman of the province. Dr. Junifen F. Gauuan, AC President, on the other hand welcomed and thanked the alumni in his short message.

The after-lunch program’s highlight was the recognition ceremony of an Outstanding Alumna, Ms. Maricel Sopongco-Franco of Batch 1987 who was adjudged by the Metrobank as one of the nation’s Outstanding Teachers. The election of officers per batch followed and the proclamation of the next Alumni Homecoming which is December, 2013.

Engr. Eric Van Sesbreño, the Alumni Association President initiated a fund campaign to finance the building of ten classrooms of the high school under the CSS Building which was supported by the alumni through their pledges and their commitment to reach out for their batch mates to relay this campaign which is expected to materialize on the 2013 Homecoming. Sesbreño, who donated cash prizes for the games and contest during the homecoming, is currently financing 17 AC Scholars since year 2010 and also urged the alumni in his speech to campaign for more enrollees for Aldersgate College.

Host Batch 1986 solicited for the raffle draw prizes and the proceeds from the sold tickets was also donated to the High School Funds. The 2013 Alumni Homecoming will be hosted by following batches 1992, 1993, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1987 qnd 2003.

The homecoming was made successful through the concerted efforts of the High School Alumni Association and the High School Faculty and staff under the leadership of Dr. Divina Gracia B. Apolonio, the principal and the administration. #Mariz Taguinod
